Help, online vs B&M limits, I\'ve seen it here somewhere......

I apoligize for the post since I've seen the info on here somewhere, but my search was lame. What is a good rule of thumb regarding similar games online vs. B&M? For example is $1-2 or $2-4 online (Paradise) in line with a typical $10-20 (AC/Taj) in player strength? Thanks for your time, BB I typically putzing $6-12 or $10-20 at B&M and have just started a couple days ago online (micro limits so far).

There was a good post on this, but I would say 2/4- 3/6 for you.

First, the same bankroll considerations apply live as do online, so just because you could beat a significanly higher game live than you could online, doesn't mean you should play it if you don't have hte bankroll for it. That said, I've personally found that the live games have gotten a bit tighter recently, as opposed to a year or two ago at the height of the poker boom. And it really varies widely based on casino/ time of day/ day of the week. So there really isn't a straight answer as to correlation. Best advice is to just practice game selection as you always would, and try to watch some tables at different limits before choosing one (most casinos have a waitlist anyway, so you can go on the list for multiple limits while trying to figure out which one is best for you).

Edit: Just realized you're doinig the opposite of what I said (from live-online), so just do the opposite of what I said.

Thanks for your reply. Although I've done quite a bit of reading over the last two years, my B&M experience has been limited to about 60 hours in ring games and a dozen small tourneys (< $250 buyin, lucky enough to cash in 4 of 7 this year). I tend to be fairly conservative, although I could afford to start with more I've only deposited $200 on Paradise. I'll putz with $0.50-1.00 and lower until I see how I make out, gradually working my way up. Most folks I'd seen so far playing $0.10-0.20 were fairly silly. THanks again, best of luck. BB

Sounds like a good plan.

I've only played a casino cash game once.. a $2/5 limit holdem game 11-handed... and the play was probably worse than the .10/.20 that I learned to play at. Avg players to flop was about 7, and avg pot was well over 10BB for sure. Couldn't believe my eyes.

Thanks, I'll putz with $0.50-1.00 a few sessions to get my feet wet before giving 2/4 and 3/6 a shot. I agree that's about where I'd like to be this Spring/Summer. Appreciate the response. BB

I only play B&M $2-4 when I hand the car keys to someone else and I want to donk it up with a beer inhand. It's always very silly. I've seen it a bit better $4-8 to $6-12, but still lots of mistakes and silly plays. My 60 hours in B&M ring games only includes a single four hour session of cold cards at $10-20, but I think that's about where most people start taking it bit more serious. Thanks for the reply. BB
