I just logged in to yahoo and the news story was this

There was a picture of Phil Laak on yahoo.com. I have never seen that before. Good for him, I hop he wins, he is a really smart guy that doesn't get the credit amongst us that he deserves.

Phil Laak is without a doubt one of my favourite players, although he dosent seem to get much respect here on 2+2.
His column in Bluff is some of the best stuff I have ever read about poker.

about the challange itself 2k hands is a joke, what a crapshoot.

I am i little confused. Why is this a crap-shoot? Isn't the computer going to play both hands but against different opponents? This seems a lot like duplicate bridge and should remove much of the "luck" factor.

i dont think you understand how this works, or maybe i dont. but it sounds like they will be correlating the total chip amounts from the 'pros' with that of the computer and seeing who comes out ahead.. so no variance really, just who wins more with good hand less with bad hand type stuff. so.. shouldnt be a TON of variance and luck, but still some obv. i think its actually pretty smart way for them to do this. im interested to see results.

Computer A is going to get Cards A and play against Phil who gets Cards B. Computer B is going to get Cards B and Eli is going to get Cards A.

they should do insurance whenever they get it all in to reduce the variance even more
