Investing Literature

Hey guys, I was curious as to what might be some good beginning reading for someone interesting in investing in stocks/index funds/whatever as I'm not knowledgable when it comes to investing. Thanks.

I have an interest in real estate (it just seems more exciting/hands on). I am a believer that real estate can be an investment.

Some books I read, and highly recommend:

Buying and Managing Residential Real Estate (second edition)
Author: Andrew J. McLean
ISBN: 0-07-146219-8

Nice all around picture. Actually tells you specific details about what you need to know. Covers many important topics in detail.

All About Mortgages: Insider Tips to Finance Your Home

by Julie Garton-Good
ISBN: 0793185971

The best book I have encountered. Some Mortgae guy on amazon said he works in the industry and that this book is invaluable; he (even after x years of experience) refers to it on a consistent basis.

A bit over my head, but once I am ready to buy a house (4 years maybe!) I will definitely read this several times again.

Thanks for the recommendation. I expect to be making an offer on a house very soon (within a month, possibly), so this should be useful to me. I just placed a hold on it at the library and I'll pick it up tomorrow.
