FT100NL - River brings scare card, gets led into

Only read so far is that villain is in a lot of pots. Havent seen hands at SD...usually gets there by limping, open or over..

<font color="red">SB bets $17.00</font>, <font color="red">Hero raises to $40.00</font>

yes/no? He could easily have a bricked draw, prob the wrong river to try this on, but what if the river was not an ace?

Does it become a much better raise then? risking 40 to win 42.

I don't really like pf. QJ is a little too weak for it.
As for river I just fold because villian is horrible. He might have an ace here too and he won't fold to a river raise.

What are you repping here anyways? An 8 usually doesnt check turn there and neither do overpairs.

I like it but if I'm him, I'm not buying you have an Ace either, so unless I'm drawing to a flush, I'm probably going to call

Why can't hero have Ax here?

I don't like this. He can easily have nut flushdraw or simply a sticky AJ or something, maybe an 8.

You might think A is a good card for villain to bluff on, but it's really really not. Given your play preflop and postflop you have AK/AQ very very often.

Sometimes they turn their pair into a bluff like this, but it's not often enough to do stuff like this.

Also, I'm hating preflop. QJo is a nightmare out of position against calling ranges of villain like this preflop (mostly Ax and pps).

Nielsio,

What is your raising range from the BB in this situation?

88+, AT+, KJs+

But I may tighten up if villains are out to get me/I have no respect.
