Check-raised with overpair, standard or weak play?
Canterbury 15/30.
Folds around to me in LP and I raise with JJ. All fold to TAG in BB (Doc) who calls. Flop is T74r. Doc checkraises, I three-bet, Doc calls. Turn is a 6, suit unimportant. Doc bets, I call. River is a blank. Doc bets, I call. |
Re: Check-raised with overpair, standard or weak play?
It's fine. I don't mind raise/folding to a 3-bet on the river, though.

He may possibly have 77 or 44, but I'm thinking it is more likely something like AT or KT. If he plays back at you after you raise on the turn I'd just call down. |

Emerson, you're calling a turn 3-bet by a TAG?

Emerson, you're calling a turn 3-bet by a TAG? [/ QUOTE ] On this board with our hand I think so. I just think that most hands that beat us would have 3 bet preflop. Also, it is unclear what TAG means anymore. It usually refers to a semi-loose aggressive player who is skilled and capable of moves. |
Re: Check-raised with overpair, standard or weak play?
I agree at this point, but if you're 3-bet on the turn by a by-the-book TAG, those assumptions go out the window. You're almost always against a set.

Re: Check-raised with overpair, standard or weak play?
Raising the river is much better than raising the turn if you want to raise a big street.

Re: Check-raised with overpair, standard or weak play?
I agree, bboy. Unless you're in a really tough game, you never, ever get 3-bet on the river when you're ahead, and can easily fold.
