something\'s awry: funny old lady

Pushed into 3-6 the other day. Blinds are posted, but something's awry.

UTG there's an old lady, real old with white hair. She's got $6 out in front, like a live straddle. I'm a bit confused. Old ladies don't straddle, but the $6 seems quite purposefully posted, and she seems quite content. I kinda tentatively look at her and ask "live straddle?" She says "yup, live straddle.".

OK. Not something you see very often, but I've seen stranger things. So I deal the cards and several players call the $6. It comes around to the old lady (who hasn't yet looked at her cards) and she makes it $9 blind. Hmmmm. Now something's really awry. I do a quick double check, but there's still a white hired old lady sitting behind the $9.

Finally I had to ask, "are you from california?" "Uh-huh" she says.

That explains it! I'm still chuckling about it days later.

It's the little old lady from Pasadena

The little old lady from Pasadena
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Has a pretty little flower bed of white gardenias
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
But parked in her rickety old garage
Is a brand new shiny red Super Stock Dodge

And everybody's saying that there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's the terror of Colorado Boulevard

Finally I had to ask, "are you from commerce?" "shut up and [censored] deal" she says, while whipping a half-eaten plate of shrimp chow mein at my head.

Because of the "corporate a$$-sucking jerkoffs phenomenon" I don't say where I deal. If I said where I dealt then everything I wrote would sound like it was in card player (where everything's always peachy, and even the biggest a-holes in the poker world are swell guys). That would be enough to gag a maggot on a gut pile.

I don't understand why you needed to ask.
