Set v 3flush river NL50

Villain is 43.8/12.5/0.5 over 32 hands

Clearly my river bet here is stupid, but should I make a small value bet here and fold to a raise or just check-fold to a reasonable bet?

I know you might not like the pfr size but against this many callers I just wanted to increase the chance of gettting someones stack when I hit a set.

Why did you check the turn?

Good question, I checked because with several seeing the flop I was worried about the flush, but I think it's correct for him to bet the turn with a flush, so I thought at the time that he probably didn't have one after his turn check. But my reasoning here could well be wrong.

You HAVE to bet the turn here. It'll give you a better idea if the villain has the flush and will make the river decision easier.

As played, it looks as if the villain did indeed have a flush. The river raise by villain is almost always a sign that your set is no good. As much calling seems like the right play, I think that you need to fold after getting raised on the river.

He is short and the board can easily get ugly and cost you value and you can't bf or cf the river and you have tons of outs vs anything and and... just bet-call the turn.
