I hate this situation can anyone suggest a better play
 

Hi I was just in a situation where I had aces with a nasty board. I think I cost myself too much money and I'm trying to think how I could have played this hand better.

My justification for my play is as follows:
I had to bet this flop its ugly with possible drawing hands.
I bet 1.75 and he called, this suggest a hand like the nut straight (JT), a straight draw, a flush draw, KQ QJ AQ(AQ less likely with early position call) or trips. A King came on the turn. I bet the pot $5 (this is where I believe I made a mistake) and he re-raises to 10 so I fold. The way the hand was played most likely suggests 2 pair with KQ. Other hands are a possible slow play with the straight or trips; all of which beat my hand. Should I have raised less on the turn to find out where i was for cheaper? If I checked he could have just missed a flush/straight draw and bet as he thinks I'm weak and I'll have to lay my hand down, so I don't believe checking is an option ( as I wont have a CLUE where I'm at in the hand). What are your opinions?

This is in the wrong forum, but that's a pretty weak line. The K didn't make any straights or flushes, so the only plausible hand that improved past you is the KQ. You shouldn't fold this against an opponent capable of a bluff or raising with top pair.
