1/2 NLHE in Vegas
 

Hi guys,

I'm going to Vegas July 14-16th. Where, if any, could I find 1/2 NLHE in Vegas? Preferably on the strip. I got about $300-$400 set aside to gamble, is that enuff for a couple of afternoons of 1/2 NLHE?

Mirage, Venitian, Caesars, Luxor (sucks, I think max buyin is 100) and I'm sure there are others.

casinos spread 1/2 NL except Bellagio basically. You can probably get by with a pair of $200 buyins (obviously you'd have more available day 2 if you win on the first day).

Its not much and may not last you as long as you'd like - but that's life gambling on a short roll. Obvious disclaimers about not losing more than you can afford, etc apply.

Thanks for the feedback. I didnt realize so many casinos offered the low stakes for poker. I figure I can handle 2-$200 buy ins. This will be my first time playing live in a casino, so I've been reading the stickys and anything else i can get my hands on for live play noobs like myself. I'll be sure to post a trip report. Thanks again!

Just got back from Vegas, and in terms of the casinos near the south end of the strip, Excalibur seemed to be the fishiest place. They had a 1-3NL $200 max buy in and most of the players seemed to be people staying there at the Ex...which was alot of older tourists and families. Also didnt seem to be as many 'local grinders' there as some of the other places we checked out.

What was the std. pre-flop raise @ 1/3?

$10, $12, or $15 open raises were what I saw most often early this week at most 1/3 games including the Ex. For 1/2 you would have between $6-15 open raises. Obviously, some players adjust their raise to limpers.

Just relax and play. Have no expectatations other then to play to your capabilities, meet some people, and enjoy the vegas buzz.
The first time should just be about feeling the atmosphere around the game. [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

this is the best advice. you will probably make some simple mistakes on your first trip...i know i did but its not a big deal.

my first live experience was 1/2 at turningstone, fist night i played pretty nervous, but i got a feel for the game and casino atmosphere, second day i played good solid poker and went home an overall winner, just go in and enjoy yourself
