Recognising straights on the board good rules to follow
 

Hi i'd like some advice on the best way to read straights on the board . Also the best way to read straights combining your hole cards and the board combined . Cheers help much appreciated

Practice, practice, practice. Whether you're involved in the hand or not--over time it will become automatic.

If you need some added motivation to do that, play some Omaha8. You'll either learn to recognize them or go broke. [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

A risk-free way is to just take a deck of cards and deal out some hands as well as flop, turn, and river.

Take notes (either mental or written) of the possibilities each turn of the card presents.

I've done this for Omaha, b/c straight draws are much larger in that game, and it has helped.

Every str8 contains either a Ten or a Five... If you don't see one on the board, they have one in their hand...

Word.

This is the best advice: Practice, especially when you are not in a hand - always try and work out what the nuts would be, second nuts etc. Soon everything will become automatic.

Either this, or just count on your fingers 7,8,9,10,11. Ok, I'm drawing to an 11.
