Bet this turn?

This is from memory, so the details are sketchy. Read on Button is that he has the goods when he's betting. Everybody has $25 in front of them, give or take.

Full Tilt, .10/.25 No Limit
Hero is CO with [K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]]
UTG limps, Hero raises to $1.25, Button calls, blinds fold, UTG calls.

Flop (~$4):
[7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]]

UTG checks, Hero bets $3, Button calls, UTG folds.

Turn: [A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]]

Hero bets $5, Button raises to $10, Hero folds.

Thoughts on all streets? Was trying to rep AQ here, basically. I figured he would make his play here if I was beat, and I led out on the turn to try to take it down when the scare card came off. I figured bet-folding was the best line in this spot, b/c if I check the turn I won't know where I'm at. I'm not so certain, though.

Note: Pot sizing on the turn might not be entirely accurate. I do remember leading for $5 and getting minraised though.

I know that; I was asking whether the bet should have been made in the first place.

Turn bet is quite small, but it's probably fine. I don't think these guys are savvy enough to make a min-raise bluff, and the ace would be just as scary to him as it is to you if he didn't have it.

If you don't bet, you are basically giving up on the pot. He'll have the chance to bluff you out of the pot with a flush draw. But he might check behind, fearing a check/raise.

I think either bet/fold or check/fold are ok.

If he checks behind I'm calling most non-diamond rivers.

Re: Bet this turn?

at first i thought that betting would be the best play, but after thinking about his range (AdXd, Q-worse kicker, any other flush draw) it may actually be better to check/call.

Re: Bet this turn?

If we just check/call we're offering villain our nuts on the chopping block of reverse implied odds.

If we're beat we pay the maximum, if he's drawing he pays us no more unless he hits and then we pay the maximum again.

And I don't think he's betting with a Q and a worse kicker. This is either Ax (yes, some villains call with one over, that is why they're bad), a diamond draw (sometimes with the Ace), air and once in a while a badly played set/2pair.

your turn bet sizing sucks .. Bet like 8 into the 10 pot

Re: Bet this turn?

what does $8 do that $5 doesn't, especially when the ace shows up (which makes a decent amount of hands that he could call on the flop with)? i suppose it's possible opponent picks up straight draws too on the turn. i can see $8 with say AQ/set, but why with second pair?

Re: Bet this turn?

So Wolfram, do you take the same line as me in this hand (with possibly a larger bet on the turn)? I appreciate the advice; yours is always solid. (-:
