WSOP hand

$3000 NLHE event. 6K starting chips.

As we go into the 3rd level, I have T24K and am one of the chip leaders. Average is 8K. I have been hot the first 2 levels, always showing down good hands when called.

100-200 blinds. Folded to me on the button. I make it 500 to go with A3 offsuit. Both blinds (7K each) call. Flop is A42. Both blinds check.

What is the correct action?

I decide to bet 800. SB folds. BB raises to 2400.

What is the correct action?

I call. Now 6300 in the pot, and the BB has 6500 left. Turn is a 9. He bets 3000.

What is the correct action?

I think check the flop. What worse hands are going to call? Check the flop, call bets on the turn, bet turn if checked to twice.

check flop and keep it small, bet out turn and fold to raise.

I don't know what worse hands just call but I think he's check/raising range includes PP and other hands hero has beat that are representing an ace. Hero has said he's been running hot but this generally means his opponents will be reading him for a LAG and play back at him more.

I like a check behind since we really don't know where our hands stands against a call or a raise, although I don't see why somebody would c/r a hand like AT/AJ or even AQ on this flop. It's WA/AB situation for them so if they have a hand that isn't a set or a bluff they shouldn't play it like this. Then the question do they play 22 or 44 like this? probably. A bluff representing an ace? possibly.

Reads, player tendencies and table feel would help in this spot. His turn bet seems pretty strong. Is he the type of player to throw out a 2nd barrel if called on the flop with TT for half his stack?

meh, I think checking behind on the flop is the best play. If we're behind we keep the betting to two streets. If we're ahead we aren't really worried too much about giving up a free card. Against a tricky player we're put in a tough spot b/c we aren't sure where we stand against a c/r and against a weak straight forward player we can check the flop b/c they'll be drawing thin when we're ahead.

Fold to the check raise on the flop.

As played, what do you think about me pushing him all in on the turn? Do I have fold equity? Am I getting a good price if he calls and I am behind? How often am I ahead here?

OK. Confession. I did not play this hand. TStone did, as reported in his blog. And he put the guy all in on the turn. Here is our discussion of the hand fyp:

lolol. dear god binion. i know that this is not the standard way to play the hand. i played it entirely this way because of my image. i thought playing it this way would induce a bluffraise. i even mentioned in my blog that i normally check this flop. chill tfo.

I fold to that flop check-raise and I don't think it's very close. If they are going to start playing back alot, there will be better situations to make them pay for it.
