Dell laptop order-to-ship time
 

I ordered the low-end notebook from dell.com at 8:00AM eastern time Friday June 15. I didn't change a single thing from the default setup, and I paid for next-day delivery. I am in Georgia. The estimated ship date is July 1, but I know they have a history of beating that date pretty soundly.

What is the chance of this thing arriving at my house this coming Friday (one week after order) or before? Note that the order status on Dell's site is still "in production." Also note that my card hasn't been charged yet.

Or, if you have placed a similar order in the past, how long did it take to get to you?

I could've had a system drop-shipped to you in like, 4 days.

I got a laptop in December and a monitor in July and they both took under a week. I don't recall paying for any shipping upgrades on either, though I may have. Dell's okay in general. I guess I'm just spoiled by Amazon and Newegg routinely doing mouseclick-to-doorstep in < 36 hours.

I ordered a laptop last night. I did change a lot, and the estimated ship date is July 15th. I hope they beat it by a lot, but I won't expect it until around then.
