Blind stealing

Hi mates,

I just want to hear your opinion about this hand, hope you can help me :-)

I´m in the middle of a 40 players mtt. with 2000 starting chips. We are about half trough the tournament the blinds are 250/500 i have about 6500 chips and i´m about 2000 above average. Last hand i made a steal with a 1585 raise. This time i´m on the buttom with 88, every one folded to me I bet the standard steal raise 3xBB and the SB who had been pretty passive the last 10-15 min puts me all in for his 7000. Should i call?

What happend: I actually cald he showd J7 of, he hits the jack and knock me out of the tournament :-(

First off... Don't post results with your post... it always gets you watered down answers (or no answers).

How many players are left? When does the money start?
Both of these are important questions to getting good feedback.

The answer... it's probably close. With the blinds so high and so much money in the pot, you have odds if your opponent has 2 overcards (which is what he will have a lot of the time).
If you think that you're a much better player than the rest of the competition, it gives value to folding.

These tournaments are high variance, so this stuff is common.

Good call.

OP,

You definitely should've gone all-in yourself in the first place.

Your question is probably better suited for the MTT strategy forum.
