5/10, calling an all-in overbet with a flush draw. . .

. . . and some overcards, and an iffy gutshot. Villain is an unknown in the CO. He sat down just a couple orbits ago with $720.

Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $5/$10 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter)

The more I think about it, the more I like this call. Am I missing something?

Its all about pot equity.

call fast, you DOMINATE his shoving range here

I wouldn't be so sure that you have the Ace as an out. The gutshot is likely good and obviously the diamonds.

You see a straight/two pair a decent amount here.

I don't think you dominate his shoving range at all. There's nothing you "dominate"

there are however, hands that have you pretty beat, like 56 and two pairs and sets.

lets hope its on the low side of his shoving range like A6.

I would try turning a diamond here.

Actually, this is an easy call against 56 (almost exactly even odds, 49.6-49.2). Against two pair I'm very nearly getting the odds for a neutral EV call (getting 1.36-1 from the pot, 1.40-1 against catching up). Only a straight and a set leave me in pretty bad shape. Meanwhile, I'm a good favorite against any pocket pair (except AA), and if he's semi-bluffing a flush draw I have him crushed, of course.

Only question, therefore, is whether he has flush draw, PP, or 56 more often than a set or straight. I think he does -- am I wrong?

Hands like these are better studied with pokerstove

Probably true, but I am still curious about how often he has a straight or set.

Incidentally, he had 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], and it held up. My call got some flack from the table, which is mostly why I posted it.

Like someone else said, PokerStove can give you a better idea for your answer. Regardless of that though, I hate the call seeing how [censored] your pot odds are. If opponent is a standard player I think you're pretty far behind his range.
