Ingenious Scams

This might get banned but what the hell. This has already been tried and the guy got busted big time. I still think the idea was brilliant but he just got greedy. So this guy writes out a letter that says something like this. "Hello. I was dining at your establishment last friday. I have going there for the last 10 years. One of the waitresses spilled my soda on my brand new shirt. I think it's only fair and would really appreciate it if you could reimburse me for my dry cleaning bill." Then you could include a made up phoney dry cleaning bill and a post office box to send it to. This guy sent this letter to thousands of resturants. By the time he got caught he accumulated over $300K.

So yeah. Anybody else have any good scams?

set up a 809 number, leave tons of messges/pages etc, to random phone numbers, when teh owner calls the 809 number back they are charged a fee. 809 is akin to 900 numbers, but no one knows about them

Those are both bad, but the second one is evil.

and much smarter, because you can charge only like 5$, and no one is going to notice a 5$ charge on their bill and/or call up att's horrific customer service to figure out what the deal is.

Grab popcorn and soda cups out of the trash at movie theaters and get them refilled. Obviously, replace the straw and rinse out the cup if you're worried about such things.

When I was in high school (I'm old, so this was the early 80's), I knew a guy who ran a regular classified ad in the back of the Village Voice that read, "NUDE BEACHES - maps to little known nude beaches, $20" with a NY PO Box as the reply-to address.

Of course the beaches were little known to New Yorkers -- they were all in So. Cal.

Maybe not ingenious, but funny at the time.
