How do you get your cash to Vegas?

I plan to bring $5K for the WSOP, which will cover the two events I'm playing and some side games. It seems unsafe and impractical to carry that much cash.

Travelers cheques? The largest denominations are $100, so you're still looking at a thick stack, and having to sign them all at the cage.

Wire transfer? That's a pain, and you have to do it a few days in a advance.

A cashier's check to yourself? Can you just cash it at the cage or hotel?

Thanks in advance.

5k is nothing to worry about to carry in your pocket to vegas, youll be fine. if you really feel unsafe get traveler's checks or make yourself a MO/cashiers check

edit: please disregard if you plan on walking beyond the el cortez on fremont street

FAQ: $5K is easy to carry. It fits in one pocket just fine, or split it between two if you like. Put in a velcro'd pocket if you have one (gotta love cargo shorts) and/or wrap with an asparagus-type rubber band (wide) to make it sticky and keep it together.

Half the people walking down the strip on any given day have >$5K in their pockets.

Rubberband + pocket. If this is uncomfortable for you then you are on too short a bankroll to play those events.

Love stealing those big rubber bands from the supermarket for my roll.

I believe there are traveler's checks in denominations larger than $100 if you want to go that way. Personally, I'd just take the cash, but otherwise wire the money. Casinos will not give you instant access to cash upon receipt of a cashier's check, which can be forged.

Casinos may not give you access to cash if you wire it. There have been a couple postings about this. Someone found out the hard way Venetian (I think it was) absolutely would not under any circumstances give him the money he wired in cash. They would only give him access if he played a Venetian table game with it. Someone else had a similar problem at Rio (of all places) but was able to get it resolved, eventually. It'd be a rude surprise to show up at the cage at 9am the morning of your WSOP tourney and ask for your $5000 and be told you can't have it for that purpose. Bellagio seems to be pretty good about it. Call and verify.

Check cashing policies vary by casino, also. Call and verify.

Seriously... for $5000 you really just want to bring the cash.
