Tipping the Dealer

How much do you guys normally tip the dealer? I'm not sure what amount is the right amount.

I always tip 50% of the pot. Isn't that normal?

$1 is standard. Some people don't tip if there wasn't a flop. Some tip more for big pots. Some tip for taking a long time during the hand. $1 is standard.

$1 is fine though unless it's a big pot.

For pots of $200 or more, around 1% of the pot maybe?

Can we please kill this thread? Seriously. Use the search and you'll find what? A hundred other tipping threads here in the past year?

In fact here is the "Official Tipping Thread of B&M":

Everything you wanted to know about tipping...but were afraid to ask

no. So far the only bad posts in this thread were the two you made, do you see why?

confusedandlost - threads about tipping aren't very popular around here because they sometimes degenerate into someone using the thread as a platform to discuss their views that the tipping culture in the USA is wrong. Its a constant battle we face, a handful of people have been banned because of it. I know your new around here, its probably the best bet to read through the existing posts in this forum to get the lay of the land before you start asking questions, you will probably get mich better responses that way.

To give you a quick and easy answer, standard operating procedure for most players is $1 for every pot you win if it sees the flop, but that doesnt mean thats what you should do, its your decision to make. The size of your tip is a personal decision, just factor in the fact that the dealer's primary source of income is via tips and they are providing a service to the game as you decide how you will proceed.

$1 unless you take it down preflop or the pot is super small. Remember dealers live on tips and need to be taken care of, but players need to make a living too. $1/pot can easily turn into 5-10k per year for a regular.

No, I don't see why. Explain to me how my link to the stickied tipping thread qualifies as a bad post. I'll give you the first post though.
