Pot limit Omaha

Okay so there's 3 books on Pot limit Omaha on Amazon.

How Good Is Your Pot-Limit Omaha? - Stewart Reuben
Secrets of Professional Pot-Limit Omaha with DVD - Rolf Slotboom
Championship Omaha - TJ Coultier

Are these all worth getting if I want to start learning the game?

From a PLO novice:

How Good Is Your Pot-Limit Omaha? - Stewart Reuben

This is very interesting, but Stew is extremely loose and aggressive, and he plays the highest stakes available. The book will make you think, but whatever you do, do not try to simply copy his style.

Secrets of Professional Pot-Limit Omaha with DVD - Rolf Slotboom

My compatriot Gelford likes this. I was disappointed. I was expecting a normal textbook approach, but instead it was a very esoteric mix of things - for instance a long treatment of his minimum buy-in approach.

Championship Omaha - Cloutier & McEvoy

Bleh - do you play limit Omaha high? Does anybody? There's a section on it anyway (as there is in Ciaffone's book). I haven't actually read the PLO section, because I had a fit after reading the LO8 section. I haven't liked anything those two have written yet, and chances are you won't either.

Cheers,

Smurf

PS: You could read Berman's intro in SS2 and then follow up with the two first. Stay away from the last one. Really just play a lot (lower stakes) and run sims with twodimes to really get a feel for the game.

Yeah I like Slotbooms book despite it is not a textbook.

Actually I like it bacause it is not a textbook, it is just a semi biografi of Rolf in the process discussing his approach to the game. There is plenty of info how to play the game, whether you want to shortstack or play deep. Starting hands, position and betsizing is covered.

Half the book deals with the shortstack approach tho, which is ... well not to everybodys taste (I tried it, didn't like it)

But still it is a down to earth book and a plesant read. Unlike so many other books it does not pretend to be difficult and containing 'expert plays' that you most likely will not crasp immediately and so on ... nor does it assume that you are clueless and adress you in a schoolteacher tone of voice.

I liked reading it, which is rare in a poker book !

Omaha Poker by Ciaffone is the basic noob'ish text if you prefer that.

And How good is your omaha poker is the interesting book, fun hands, but played in very aggro deepstacked games, that more or less are nonexistant .. especially online. ...

No other book is worth buying with regards to PLO (high) as I usually say.

Farha has a book in progress, I think. It's an open market at the moment.

I've heard he's deadly at Omaha, but I sure hope his book wouldn't include a section on poker ettiquite
