dont even go to bycycle, hustler or Hollywood park they're the ghetto of LA poker, they suck big time. Go straight to Hawaiian Gardens or Commerce.

Mid-to-lowish limit? Depends on exactly what you mean.

HP and Hustler both have good 15/30 games. HP is more of an action game, Hustler more passive. A good player shouldn't have much trouble at either.

Commerce runs a 9/18 that is often insane, but way too loose. High variance, but probably very profitable. The Bike has an 8/16 that I don't like much...too many props, not enough action. HP and Hustler both spread 6/12 - Hustler's game is pretty boring, but I highly recommend the HP 6 game. Extrmemely predictable loose-passive play with the occasional maniac who will be easy to isolate.

Hope that helps. Can't help you with no-limit at all.

As mentioned, Hawaiian Gardens is great for 8/16. Lots of loose ,bad players, plays like a vegas strip 4/8 game, and 4 to 8 tables to select from.

The commerce 9/18 is good but the 20/40 is better. There are some good players/Grinders in the 20/40 but also some bad passive players that you can isolate. Table selection is also great 3 to 10 tables to choose from.

I'm looking for the best ~10/20 game (8/16, 9/18, 10/20) in LA on the weekends.

What is it?

This thread seems to suggest the Hawaiian Gardens 8/16:

I've played the commerce 9/18 a bit, but not for 6 months. I can't believe that there is a better game than the commerce 9/18.

Props? I went a couple a weeks ago and played the 200NL and it was loose/passive.

pre-flop

Ex. UTG raise $20

Hero: with K-K re-raise to $80

MP: players Pushes his last $81

results

UTG: calls w/ 9-9

MP: w/ 5-3

Yet, I've noticed at the Commerce much better table selection, be headed over their tonight!

Both the 9-18 at the Commerce and the 8-16 1/2 kill at the Hawaiian Gardens are going quite strong and are good choices. The HG game is more passive.

That thread that suggested the Commerce 9-18 is dying is downright silly. It was no less two weeks ago where I saw 11 tables of 9-18 going on a Saturday. There is usually at least 4 on a weekday, and that's a low rare number.

Re: mid limit LA games

I don't want to try the Commerce $9-18 due to the high drop and also due to the equally juicy $20-40 there that doesn't drop the jackpot dollar and is effectively double the stakes for a lower cost. So I'm biased. Sue me.

FWIW, I calculated that increase in drop as costing me enough that the Commerce $9-18 was no longer beatable for a BB an hour. I know that several of us posted our winrates in that game that came back at amounts between $15 and $23 an hour. I also recall the amount of hours involved as ~250-1000. Simillarly there were several people at the time claiming the game was beatable for 2-4BB an hour. Of course, none of the people claiming that could post the amount they net won along with number of hours played. Anyway, based on my opponents when I was playing it, I highly doubt there were more than 2 or 3 regular winning players in that game.

Anyway, the HG $8-16 game is a more beatable game at this point. I dunno if that is going to remain true if I keep posting this stuff on 2+2. But every potential 2+2er I run into there sucks bad at poker and goes off on mega monkey tilt at the first sign of bad beat. They seem to play good for a while and then all of the sudden start bleeding chips with garbage played passively as is humanly possible. I've posted that there isn't a single winning player(aside of myself) the past few weekend evenings I've played there.
