Avatars

Can something be done about sexual avatars? I cruise the site at work and I often have to quickly scroll down a page so that someone isn't offended. Is it really necessary to have softcore porn as an avatar on a poker site?

Go to your user preferences and select "don't show avatars"

I checked for clarity, the option you want is "View other user's pictures in their profile and user list?" (no) and "View user's pictures with their posts?" (no)

But then I would be denied the hilarity of people who have reasonable avatars.

I just think it's funny that a heavily moderated, heavily censored site allows porn to be randomly broadcast in people's avatars.

If you see an avatar you think crosses the link, PM somebody. Mat's given us carte blanche to remove offensive avatars as we see fit.

So you're saying the rules are in place but only enforced if someone complains?

Why not just be proactive?

Why not take it upon yourself to make them a list of all the terrible avatars?

I looked at one thread in BBV and Python49 has a good example of an avatar that is NSFW.

The problem is that the policy Dids outlined isn't clear. Also, if they have been given authority to remove inappropriate avatars then that also carries an implied responsiblity to do so.

I think it carries an implied responsibility to do so if someone whines about it.
