Best PS deposit method for Canadian
 

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a method to deposit to PS to take advantage of the bonus. I don't have a credit card but do have a Canadian bank account with CIBC

What ewallet do you recommend? Note that lower the fees and being able to make the deadline for the PS bonus (I think May 21st or something) is required.

So, based on your experience, what do you recommend?

There's a Canadian e-wallet thread in this forum that might have helpful information. Unfortunately, I don't have any information that can help you since I was able to use MasterCard without issues. If there's a deposit method that you want to use that you think may be too slow, you can try e-mailing support before depositing and they may let you have the bonus after the deadline.

Having no CC is going to make it tricky to get done very quickly. ePassporte and Moneybookers are really your only eWallet choices, but EPP requires a CC to load, and MB will be slow/expensive to load from your bank account. I have NO idea how Weatern Union works, but that might be your quickest bet. Do you have a bankroll online now, and if so, where? There might be some ways to move the money around.

I have the same problem - the only reason we want extra money in is to get the bonus. Don't they have e-cheques anymore? If not, do you know why? That seemed like a great option. I have VISA and American Express credit cards. I guess I could somehow use these? (I've never done this). It won't hurt my credit rating dealing w/ a poker site will it?

Visa should work. I used Mastercard to deposit. Expect it to count as a cash advance with a fee of around $5. If you deposit this way, pay your Visa bill as soon as possible since cash advances accrue interest right away.

I also previously used eChecks. Looks like the intermediary company shut down or something similar. Hopefully they'll fix the issue soon,

Sorry, I don't know anything about e-cheques...I always used NT before and used Moneybookers this time. I believe you play a lot on Stars, do you play anywhere else? If so, you should really think about getting an eWallet set up for the future. For this bonus, your CC should be fine, Lyrrad's got it right with the fees, etc. As far as credit rating, I really don't think you'll have a problem...I couldn't guarantee it, but I've never heard of such a thing.

Yeah, at worst a deposit from Visa/MC will count as a cash advance. So, I believe that it would only hurt your credit if you don't pay your credit card back.

Cool. Thanks so much for the help, guys. I just used Visa. I asked the guy if I should pay it right away and he said, no, there's no need. I told him it was going to PokerStars and he said, "oh, yes, you should pay it right away as the interest will start immediately because it has gone to an online casino".

Why? :/ Seems very odd.

Sometimes (usually?) MC and Visa consider deposits to poker sites to be cash equivalent transactions so it's treated like a cash advance. They don't want you to be able to get an interest-free loan by depositing to a site, and then immediately cashing out. Also, they make more money that way.
