1/2 NL; $300 max buy in a crap shot
 

Villian is what I thought was a decent player, and, I won't go into why his opening $15 bet 2nd to act after a fold was KK or AA, other than the fact that I had QJs (hearts) giving him only 3 ways to have QQ or JJ, but I had no doubt that it had to be one of those two hands.

3 players called, so I called in the BB and the Flop came:

I check and Villian bets $50, making the Pot $107 after the Rake. The other two players fold and I call.
$157 in the pot.

Turn: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I check and Villian bets $90, making the pot $247.00

I have $185 left to raise with after the call. So Villian would be calling $185 to win $522.00, giving him Pot Odds of 2.82:1.

I tell Villian that I have QJ, that I believe he has AA/KK, and that if I was to go all in, he would be getting < 3:1 on his money, that he only has 8 outs, making him 4.5:1 Dog. I then ask the Dealer if I can show and she doesn't know.

I announce that I am going all in and that I'll show my hand if he asks to see it. He says he doesn't need to see it and calls.

The River brings an Ace and he turns over AA.

The only reason I was playing NL was because I was at a casino that had a $286K Bad Beat Jackpot going and they only have about a dozen tables going. I usually play 10/20 limit.

I should have just played in one of the 2/4 or 3/6 limit games, but doubt I could have stayed awake.

I'll take my chances at staying awake next time.

My Post isn't about having a bad beat put on me, it's about the 1/2 NL games being nothing more than a crap shot and nothing about being a NL Game known as the "Cadillac of Poker."

What's even more amazing, is that I hear so many 1/2 & 2/5 NL players, who sit down in my 10/20 Limit game, start whining about how you can't push someone off a hand in limit games.

This is about the 6th time I've sat in on a 1/2 NL game and I'm convinced the majority of the players are there for the cheap action thrills.

I don't get it. So you wanted your opponent to make a correct fold as opposed to an incorrect call?

Your EV is $522 if he folds.
Your EV is $584 if he calls.
You want him to call, of course.

Everything else in your post is BBV.

lol, when i see ppl calling with hands that i have dominated i smile to myself and realize that there's still money to be made in this game, and grind on.

Yes, I wanted him to fold. He had been running good and I was stuck $160.00. I was going to cash out (which I didn't need to do [img]/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] since he called) and go back to the Borgata and my 10/20 Limit games.

BBV: You are totally wrong. I have had enough bad beats put on me in my life to not waste my time posting one.

This post is for the sole purpose of telling all you small buy in NL players who chase and especially bluff, that the real game is 10/20 limit and higher. You whine in those games because you don't know how to play.

Finally, you need deep pockets to crack those Chasers, even in a $300 buy in. It would be nothing to lose 4 times in a row in the same situation.

I hope we are getting leveled here.

I have no idea what your skills as a limit player are but 1/2 NL live with a 300 cap is a dream I know I play in that game at foxwoods all the time it is pretty much the most easy game to beat in the house IMO 10/20 limit is def harder to beat so I dont really know what your getting at here.

Why you would ever tell someone this? Do you not like money?
