I would bet more on the turn and fold the river without a read. He would have to be a [censored] idiot to do that without a J.

Should I block river?

I would normally Pot, Pot and block here.

He could have played JJ, AJ, AA... The way you played seems ok but a bet on the river would have been perhaps better.

This seems so much better.
When you check like I did, and villain shoves, doubt creeps into your mind:
"Did he do that because I checked?"
If you block (1/2 pot?) and he shoves: easy fold.
Also you get value from TPTK/2pair hands that might check behind.

Hmmm. Whenever I start a thread the views to replies ratio is always like 20:1. And half the replies are mine
Note to self: Post more interesting hands with more boring titles

The reason you probably aren't getting many replies is that you really did not play the hand that poorly. River is a tough spot. A blocker, check/fold and even check/call (need a read) are all viable options. Add to that the fact that everyone has trouble with 4 straight and 4 flush boards and you get a lot of views and few posts. Don't be discouraged, you did not make any huge or fundamental mistakes here.

At least you have got a response. For my first topic on the 2+2 forums, nobody has joined me.

What do people do if Hero has J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] here?
