River bluff $200NL

edit: villain has tight aggro stats over about 3k hands. I doubt he's ever seen me really get out of line.

If hes capable of laying down an overpair here I like it, you're repping a set very well.

Re: River bluff $200NL

I think stack sizes are pretty much perfect for this to be working, in case he got some JJ like hand, which a tight player could be finding a fold, as the board got pretty scary indeed...

Depending on his stats, I think this play is +EV... I am very often playing similarly with a flopped set against an aggro player... So an aggro AND thinking player could find a fold here with an overpair I guess...

You ran into 1010? Bad luck

I hate it. He'll be getting close to 3-1 on the call and I'm not sure I buy the river check raise there. I think for this to be +ev you really have to know your player because I think you get looked up by an overpair pretty often.

Meh I just saw its shorthanded, not a huge fan of it anymore. Youll get looked up a lot lighter espcially since hes getting such a good price.

I think if it was a full table he'd fold a lot of hands even with this good of a price because your line is so strong.

Not coming from you. I don't know if you could have it preflop, but it looks a lot like Ac7c postflop. I doubt overpairs are calling often assuming he is solid like you say.

i hate this. river check/raises hardly ever work in my experience. there is a good chance he likes his hand because he had the option to just check behind. he either thinks he is behind and wants you to fold(witch i doubt is the case since he called the turn bet) or he thinks he is ahead and wants value.

every once and awhile i get tilty and start doing stuff like this. sometimes it works and i think i am playing really good poker. however, in the long run you will lose. there are way better spots to bluff. villains has not shown any signs of having a weak hand.
