Collusion at the WSOP Final Table! [Lucky You is horrible]

...good thing it was just a movie (Lucky You).

(Spoiler Alert)

So at the end of the movie it’s 3-handed at the Main Event final table. This is taking place in 2003 so it’s the last year the whole event was held at Binions, and the first year hole-card cameras were used. Remaining players are Eric Bana aka “Huck”, his dad (Robert Duvall) a two-time Main Event winner, and the internet amateur aka. the Chris Moneymaker.

Blinds are 20k/40k. Bana limps on the button w/ AA. Duvall in the SB makes it a 100k. Internet amateur folds his BB. Bana “just calls”. (That’s what he actually says, which draws a comment from Duvall). Duvall leads a 732 rainbow flop for 300k. Bana minraises to 600k. Duvall “just calls” (You see, he used the same line as Bana. How clever). Turn is another 2. Duvall leads for 500k. Bana calls after some consideration. Duvall says “now would be the time to move over the top if you had bullets” as he is contemplating. River is an 8. Duvall says “I still think I got you beat huckleberry” and moves all-in having Bana covered. Bana got 650k left and calls fairly quickly. Duvall tables KK and Bana just sits there for like a minute and then mucks his cards facedown!!! The thing is there were hole-cards cameras, but Bana was intentionally not showing his cards to them throughout the final table, so no one but him knew he was folding the best hand.
WTF!! Anyhow the amateur goes on to beat Duvall HU anyways so those colluding bastards got what they deserved.

Beat: I went and saw “Lucky You”
Brag: Scored some points with the gf for taking her to see a chick flick.
Variance: Brought my own snacks because I’m a cheap bastard.

Oh yeah, he's a total degen, which is great. In one scene he steals money from Drew Berrymore right after he slept with her so he can go play. He also loses a $10k prop bet in which he had to run for 5 miles and shot a round of golf of 78 or better in less then 3 hrs. He shots exactly 78, but goes over by 2 seconds so he loses the bet and goes on to berate Berrymore that she didn't help him out fudge the time alil. (She was the time-keeper). Good stuff.

aside from the obvious parallels, is this movie about/based on Huck Seed?
