I know I played this wrong but i don\'t wanna admit
someone set me strait, my buddy says I should have pushed back at the villian but I had a bad feeling.
My reads are only that the player is a lag and will take stabs at most pots, but when I've played back at him it has worked. I put him on something like AK, AQ, AJ, but i didn't think he had a pocket pair because a big early position raise online usually means a big pocket pair, and a small one would put him in the A-overcard range. Should I have raised the flop? [/ QUOTE ] If you're not going to raise on this type of flop, don't reraise preflop, just call. As played, I raise this flop 100% of the time. |
Re: I know I played this wrong but i don\'t wanna admit
yea I knew it in my heart but i just didn't pull the trigger, it's no wonder he fired into me after that.

If you've got him as LAG and big on continuation bets, definitly check raise the flop. If re-raised, fold.

Re: I know I played this wrong but i don\'t wanna admit
If you are pretty sure you are ahead - and I would be here. It is also fine to just smooth call the flop to induce a bet on the turn. This might be a better play if the villain has a hand like top pair ok kicker, which he would fold if you raised. Reads are somewhat important here. Does the villain in question donkbet often? With what sort of hands? What kind of hands is he likely to fold if you raise the flop? Lucky |

I put Villain on 44. Fold PF.

Re: I know I played this wrong but i don\'t wanna admit
Hi. I don't think it was horrible play; it's an awkward flop.
That's one thing I don't like about not too high stake games; a lot of people can go fishing (even on a small whim) and can catch flops like this and it's so dangerous. A4, 34, 45, unlikely but 99? Hey it's less than a Starbucks coffee to call preflop right? I personally would have probed back... I would have raised on the flop to about $4. Just a probe: A raise after that, and I'd lay it down. Just my 2 cents. |
