Time charge vs. rake in Vegas poker rooms
 

I'm heading to Vegas in August and want to play some poker there (probably 1/2 NL). Lately I've turned a decent profit at the local "charity" game in Lansing by buying in with a short stack and playing super-tight until someone doubles me up (or busts me out, in which case I repeat step one). A large part of the reason I can do this is because, unlike the only casino cardroom I've been to, the rake is taken from pots, not directly from player stacks.

My question is this: In Vegas, how many of the poker rooms do a time charge instead of a pot rake? Is there any hope for tight, shortstack play?

None of thegas rooms take time on a $1/$2 game. I think the lowest NL game I have seen on a time charge is $5-$10 at the Venetian.

The real reason I do it is because the full $200 buy-in is not really disposable income for me. That, and with the fish at the live games I've been to, it's very easy to get a $50 call when you're packing a big hand.

Most places have a $100 min buyin. Second, if a full buyin isn't disposable income to you, you aren't going to have much fun in Vegas. It's an expensive place.

Between the suckouts and the sharks and the lack of implied odds, short stack isn't a good strategy out here.
