London Calling

London: Sup bro
Me: Sup London
London: So, what's cookin' mate?
Me: Not much. Just chilling. Why?
London: Dunno. I'm just lonely, so I ask silly questions to keep the conversation flowing.
Me: OK
London: So, wanna hang out?
Me: Sure, whatever

So, I'm going to London. I and a friend of mine are staying a week from late May to early June, but we haven't really figured out where to stay, or what exactly to do there except getting shitfaced drunk most of the time.

We're both poker players, so we're probably gonna spend some time in the casinos. Is it possible to get deals on accommodation if you play a certain amount at a casino? Probably poorly phrased, but I don't have much experience with such things; I would just assume you could somehow get accommodation (partially) comped if you're ballin' enough at the poker tables?

Input on stuff like good bars, restaurants, casinos, things to do in general, hookers, etc. will also be appreciated..

I don't think there're any casinos that have that kind of deal, I think that kind of thing only happens in the states.

Re: London Calling

yeah no london casino does that. Over here casinos are casinos not casino/hotel/resort/spa.

OK, thanks for the info guys. Any recommendations for good places to stay then? And perhaps more importantly, good places to drink!

Also, is it standard for most London casinos to spread PLO?

Re: London Calling

Ronnie Scotts = A must if you like live music (Jazz)
Rhino on Tots court road is A Rhino so obv awesome
Foliage in Knightbridge is amazing but expensive
Ramseys Claridges restaurant was amazing last time I was there
About staying its hard to say without a budget, I like Marylebone Village which is not far from oxford street and within a cheap taxi ride of soho- not too expensive either

Drayton Arms is the only place to drink in chelsea, if your around there most other places are so stuck up

Could think of a lot more but that should do for now

Oh and PLO is available if you like bingo

Man, oh man. You're gonna find the biggest and loosest PLO games your mind can conceive. On Friday nights at the Palm Beach they have a game which, depending on who's at the table, can range from £5-£5 blinds up to to £20-£20 (and possibly beyond), plus straddles. Min sit downs can range from £500 to £5000. London is home to so many people with so much money to throw away it's not even funny.

If you play 7 card stud, there's some guys showing some interest in playing Pot Limit, £2 antes and £5 bring in. With £20 in the pot to start with and 5 rounds of betting, imagine what kind of sick stuff that might be.

I liked to get drunk at (no order)

Dublin Castle (Camden Town)
Bradley's Spanish Bar (Oxford St)
Numerous places in the Old Street neighborhood that I forget now.

I really can't help you here, know nothing much about London casino. I've been to the gutshot club, once, is all.

Can help suggest some sights to see/how to spend a day in London on foot. That any good to you?

sam, KJS: Thanks, that should get us started. Staying near Oxford street sounds good, so I'll have to check out Marleybone Village.

Nice. Don't know if I'm balla enough to handle the variance of such games at £20-£20 blinds, but £5-£5 sounds good.

Carter: Hadn't really planned about doing any sight-seeing, but now that you mention it, we'll probably have to fit in at least half a day with some traditional touristing. I know about that Tower of Power thingy, the Big Bang and the Trafalgar Cube, but no, srsly, some good suggestions for things worth checking out within reasonable proximity of each other, would be very helpful.
