What to get wife for Mother\'s day?

OK, it's her first Mother's Day as a mother and I need ideas. I have a feeling that there may be others roaming this forum who are in a very similar position. Not sure why I say that, just call it a hunch....

We usually skip gift occasions (birthdays, Xmas, etc) for 3 reasons:
1. We are not hung up on having tons of stuff.
2. We don't bother with over-commercialized holiday crap.
3. We usually just buy what we want, when we want it. Based on #1, this isn't hard to do.

Now Sunday is a little special to us, as most of you know. I want to get her something nice, but due to the items above, I don't have much experience to fall back on.

She doesn't wear much jewelery, so that's not really an option. My go-to gift is something from the local spa. Maybe a massage, facial, pedicure combo.

Loungers, help me out!

Also, I think wife needs to get a gift from Leah, so those ideas accepted as well.

A day out with the little guy. Stroll in the park or some such. What better way for her to celebrate her motherhood than with her child and love doctor?

pink + 'Leah' = girl

They spend all day together as it is. Not sure if Mom's idea of a good gift is to have another typical day.

Note: First day of daycare was this past Wednesday. Mom back to work (part-time) starting tomorrow. This is gonna be a hard week on the wife...

Seeing as you both seem quite non-materialistic, you could always adopt an animal/ sponsor a child/ save an acre of rainforest in her name.

Or name a star after your daughter? (you could even *ahem* use FPPs there...)

If you really wanted to give something material, something like this: rose lights is kinda sweet, but without knowing your partner all this is kinda a shot in the dark.

The star idea is pretty good. I'll look into that a little more.
I actually like those rose lights, but not wife's speed at all. Might actually send one of those to my mom. Thanks!

the star thing is really just a well-intentioned rip off. I would buy her a rose bush/ tree/ something nice to plant. A great keepsake and reminder of her first mother's day.

Yeah, I know it's as close to a scam as you can get, but I also imagine my little girl thinking about her own star.

I'd be okay with the star for the kid at least. But I'd be wary of naming something that might die for someone I love.

I usually find your posts insightful and well thought out.

But I guess there's gotta be some fluff factored in if you want to get to 20k+ posts...

Cute kid.

Get her a gym membership so she can lose that extra weight she's been carrying around since she had the baby.
