Top pair medium kicker OOP

UB .5/1

One of first hands at table, villain is complete unknown.

preflop: Hero openraises A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in MP, Button calls and BB calls.

flop(6 SB): A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

BB checks, Hero bets, Button raises, BB folds, Hero ...

What's my plan to the river? Just calldown? WA/WB? And do the turn and river cards matter? If so how does your line change when a club, an ace falls?

WA/WB --> call down.

maybe 3bet ... AT and two tone board present pushing possibilities

to another player just because you raised PF and bet out on the flop doesn't mean you have an ace (a raise here with many drawing hands gets better hands to fold)

plus playing back is FUN

A normal player would probably have reraised you with AT+ and a coldcall is a bit mysterious. I think it is weak play but some do it with pocketpairs or suited connectors.
He could raise for a freecard - maybe clubs or maybe he has JT, T9. So in many cases I think you are ahead. Now it would be fine to know if he is a callingstation or lag. A lag could make the betting for us and with a callingstation we would do it.

Villain was unknown

What you said was indeed why I posted this. He can do this raise with a lot of hands and I don't want to give a freecard. However, I don't want to 3bet and lead out turn and river just to see him turn over A3, A9-AQ when he happens to be passive.

Would call raise lead out turn be a better line or is that a weak-sauce compromis?

"I don't want to give a freecard"

So why just call the raise??

"I don't want to 3bet and lead out turn and river just to see him turn over A3, A9-AQ when he happens to be passive."
Allright - do what you have to do to protect and if he raises the turn then you have 3 outs at best and can fold.
If he is passive and calls the turn then checkcall the river.
