Limit O8 - Little blind pre flop question

This is a 2-4, limit game with typical players for this limit. I’m on LB and it’s a 1 chip 2 chip structure.

I have AA89 with one ace suited. One player limps in mid position, button raises, What’s my move? I don’t know anything about the BB and have no stats on him ( I don’t have stats on any of these players).

fold, this is about the worse AA you can have.

Raise - you can't be behind.

No, seriously ... why can't the Button be raising to try to isolate - or raising low cards, or raising any 4.

A re-raise from you ought to get you heads up with him most of the time.

You do have an emergency low draw, can make a nut flush, and win in many other situations, even including the fact that your xx are connected.

In addition, you will be letting the Button know that you will play back at him, and that should be helpful for future hands.

This is two/four. This statement can't be correct. In fact, the original limper will call close to 100% of the time. At least in the two four games I've been playing.

Well, I can't disagree with you about the games you have been playing. The games I play must be different.

This is a person who will not be last to act at any time in the hand. He has limped for one bet and had two raises behind him with one more very possible.

There are hands I would limp with in his position and then lay down facing aggression from two sources.

I would generally fold. You have a weak hand and will be out of position. It will be difficult for you to scoop with these cards.

You would like an Ace to flop. Many people will not raise without a hand that contains at least one Ace. So there may be only one Ace left in the deck.

It is probably not likely that the limper will fold if you three bet. From middle position there are many good hands I would limp with and not hesitate to call any number of raises. He may not have raised because he wanted action and did not want to limit the field.

Reraise.

I should elaborate, I guess...

Yes, you're out of position and don't have a powerhouse, but folding is out of the question - and raising is clearly better than calling, as you'd like as small a field as possible. Folding in this spot is sickeningly weak.

I think this is good analysis. Both are right. If you think you can get it to HU, where this AA89s is a fav vs most holdings, you 3bet, otherwise fold. Yes?

[/ QUOTE ] No. Sweetluckyme isn't assuming you can get hu. Obviously hu would be prefered, but her analysis is that regardless of hu, you are still a favorite if you raise, because of the value of your raise and the fact that you will get the big blind out and become 3 way. But she absolutely is not saying you will get heads up.
