NL 25 73o: I\'m just curious . . .

. . . Is this a good idea or not?

Villain is 60/8/0.9 after 92. I didn't have much respect for his play.

You'll have to explain.

When I bet the flop, I figured that usually I have the best hand, although obviously I'm getting called by Ax and 5x and 6x and XdXd and maybe some other things.

And then versus the min-raise, I thought it was worth peeling and waiting to see how much Villain bet on the turn with what quite possibly could still just be Ax.

On the turn, I figured there was a good chance I was up against a straight, but I thought maybe I had good implied odds on my gutshot.

The river, meanwhile, was an attempt to justify this turn decision .

When a passive guy stars betting, fold.

As played the river is good. You really need a call to justify this hand.

i'd fold to the flop minraise, there arnt many turn cards you wanna see and you have little chance of improving.

I'd prolly fold the turn even though its tiny.

rivers good

Did you have a plan for the 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] river?
I think A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] is a plausible holding for villain.

Flop donkbet is good. But you need to follow through with 3betting minraise. His range is a bit wiered. 0.9 AF is not someone who bets draws. And a minreraise is not something you often see from a small overpair. He may be one of those people who limp in with AA, this kinda makes sense.

As played, your river bet is pretty transparent and I think you should bet half a pot and give him an opportunity to bluff you out.

Well, I wouldn't have pushed. Probably I would have either bet with the plan of making a decision versus a raise (based on the size of the raise) or I would have wimped out and checked with the plan of calling anything that wasn't too big, while holding the idea of a checkraise versus a smallish bet in reserve.

In any case, you guys are correct that my play in the hand was rather loose. I see rag wheel flops and I immediately start thinking Ax, and that's what I did when I saw the min-raise. Then, on the turn, Ax got there and I called (knowing full well that my 3x was no good versus whatever Villain might have), because the price wasn't that steep and I wanted to try out a huge overpush if I caught on the river. (I was thinking Villain might have trouble folding with a straight on the board versus my annoying "we're chopping anyway so take that" push, especially if he had a big hand on the turn that had been spoiled.)

And I caught my miracle card and did get to try that out. But Villain folded, so I can't tell you what he had.
