Sorry, but what is donk bet?? (Example inside)...

I've read some micro posts, and they go something like this...

"I have seen a ton of posts that explicitly suggest stop-n-gos (or out of tempo plays, or "donks"). I have seen others that just suggest that these types of plays may be right.

Or....

Hero raises AK in BB, after villian in UTG+1 limped along with BTN.

Flop is J7x x = 2 - 6
I c-bet, villian raises, BTN folds, Hero calls
I put villian on either a J or a 7 heavily leaning towards the J (probably 80%+).
Turn : x
Hero check/calls
River : A
Hero donks and villians calls down w/ JT

I understand donk players...but donk betting I'm not 100% getting.

It essentially means betting into the aggressor from the previous street. Let's say you raise preflop from the button, and an OOP player then bets into you when the flop comes down. That would be a donk.

A donkbet is when a player who isn't the last aggressor bets into the person who was.

donking is leading into the previous street aggressor ...
I wonder if the concept applies to the river (you bet out here because there is a good chance that villain will not bet his hand)

that said ... what is hero still doing in the hand after the turn if he thinks villain has him beat

It looks like you've been around long enough to use search function.
