Villian is new. Thought about check/shoving the turn but was unsure about the small bet.

Check shoving the turn is a terrible idea. Actually checking the turn is a bad idea in general. I'd make a smallish bet of around 400 and see what happens. If you get raised, you are likely beat.

By letting villian bet the turn, you are letting him represent the flush because you seem like you don't have a heart in your hand. So you check call a weak turn bet. Now on the river, its like WTF do I do, I have no idea what he has.
