1-2nl at the Borgata this weekend. MP with 10s-6s.

Effective stack sizes of 145. I was a big stack with 1000+. SB and UTG+2 were both relatively short.

I hate betting here, but i hate checking too and giving a flush / straight draw a free card.

What's our best option. No significant tells. Does anyone do anything different on the flop (raise more?).

Do you mean that you hate giving yourself a valuable free card with YOUR flush / straight draw? As played, I definitely just check back on the turn. You are too likely to get blown off your good draw by a nine. As an aside, with a bet and a call on a 984s flop I don't think you have as much fold equity with your semibluff as you think. It might sound weak, but a call against typical live 1/2 players isn't as bad here as you think.

Yes, a taking a free card off here is fine, though you do reveal that you are on a draw by checking. Or, you could have just boated up with that 9 and be slowplaying, depends on the villain.

Maybe I'm a nit, but I muck this pre-flop.

As played, you "paid" for a free card on the turn, so just take it.
