max buy-in in LA v. LV ... why???
I enjoy playing mod-deep stack which is why i have not played in LA. Can anyone answer why LA rooms have such low max buyins?
example In LV standard casino 1-2 NL buyin max 200 2-5 Nl buyin max 1000 In LA Commerce 1-2 NL buyin max 100 3-5 Nl buyin max 200 Hollywood Park 1-2 NL buyin max 40??? 3-5 Nl buyin max 200??? Hustler 1-2 NL buyin max 50 2-5 Nl buyin max 300 Any LA card rooms that you know of that have higher max buyins? Thanks Arti |
Re: max buy-in in LA v. LV ... why???
LA rooms keep the buy ins low for the fish. Lower buy-in = more fish.
It's more of a gambling game with such low stacks. Pretty much anyone can win. Just comes down to the cards. That's why the fish like to play these games, and that's why LA has some many players. I like to play deep as well, so I stay away from the rooms you mentioned. The Bike has a 500max 5-5 NL game. That's about as deep as you're going to get up there at small stakes. Ocean's 11 in San Diego has a 1000max 5-5 NL game if you're willing to make the drive. |
Re: max buy-in in LA v. LV ... why???
i play the $40 buy in at commerce with $1/$2 blinds. i think im ready to quit playing that game. too many gamblers looking to double up every hand.
i can't afford the 5/5 yet. any reccomendations on any other games, or how to build a roll? |

[/ QUOTE ] In LA the full drop (or almost the full drop now that some LA card clubs are taking an extra dollar on a raised turn or reached river) is taken on any flop (per law, more or less). This means in the small buy games the blinds have to be bigger in order to support that drop in cases where there is little action (and sometimes you still get situations like this). That said, most LA games have tremendous action and game selection at these blind and buyin levels; I think some of the cardrooms in tourist spots like Las Vegas should stop listening to the regular grinders and perhaps consider LA structures. [/ QUOTE ] The Bike has a 5-5 blind game with a 300-500 spread buy (usually 2 to 4 games) and one with a higher spread (300-1000) that only goes on Live at Bike to the best of my knowledge. The Bike and Hollywood Park also have 5-10 blind unrestricted $500 minimum buy games. ~ Rick |

The result... the game is only good on your first table, so you might as well leave after you get moved. |

[/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Last I looked HG's unrestricted buy game was 10-20 blinds; the 5-10 blind game is $500 fixed. The Hustler game usually isn't going the one or two times a month I make it down. In either case the games look to be outside the range the OP was describing. ~ Rick |

There is a Vegas style 2/5 uncapped game at Morongo that is closer then O11, and a much nicer property overall. Only downside (aside from rake) is the high number of teenagers since it is unfortunately 18+.
