Pocket Jacks in Monte Carlo
 

Here is another intersting hand from Monte Carlo. The same tight
aggressive table, blinds 100 200, you are comfortable with a stack of
14,000. You have played very few hands and have a tight image.
UTG folds, and you raise to 800 with JJ in UTG+1. Folds to the button
who calls. Button is a young scandanavian who took first place in the EPT
Dortmund and has been playing very very tight poker for the past 5 hours.
SB folds and BB raises to 3000. BB is a familiar looking English pro. Don't
know his name but he was joking around with Dave "devilfish" Ulliot who
was sitting at the next table and I think he is part of that crowd. He came to
the table an hour late and has played tight aggressive poker. I'm sure
he is capable of making moves, but the 4 or 5 times he has showed down
a hand, he showed a very strong hand everytime. Both players have you
covered.

Given that context, and the deep stacks. Do you:

1. Fold?
2. Call 2200?
3. Reraise....possibly allin?

If you choose to call, then what's the plan?

I fold this without much consideration, JJ is just to weak here, and we dont get the right price to call for set value..

You can't call for set value and if you call and still have an overpair you are in the same bad spot as you are before the flop.
And pushing is way too dangerous.
I'd fold and wait for better opportunities.

This looked like a clear cut fold to me too.
But when I went card dead for the next 3 hours, I thought
I may have let an opportunity slip by.

Amazing how card dead I am in the events with buyins of 5k and up.

Most BBs would be afraid of your UTG raise and they will not squeeze you light. This hand would have been different if you opened from the hijack, but since you opened UTG it is definitely a fold.

Yeah, next time don't open for 4xBB in EP so your hand won't be so incredibly transparent

Nath, are you saying that raising 4xBB in EP is much more clearly JJ than AA/KK/QQ?
