NL50: TPTK faces big raise

Villain is 14/7.5/2.25.

I probably should have bet more on the turn to avoid getting bluffed out of it, but I didn't want a huge pot on the river. I ended up folding - I figured he was on an overpair or flush.

Stack sizes:
UTG: $20.35
UTG+1: $45.25
Hero: $61.50
Button: $19.10
SB: $69.55
BB: $26.80

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to $1.75, Hero calls, 3 folds.

Flop: 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($4.25, 2 players)
UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $3, UTG+1 calls.

Turn: 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($10.25, 2 players)
UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $5, UTG+1 raises to $15, Hero?

Vilain is an aggresive player and your bet on the turn is saying you are not confident in your hand.
So I would figure he is trying to push me out of the hand and because he is giving 3:1 odds, I will call it.
On the river, I will have the position and I will fold if he is still representing a strong hand.

Baluga?

Not sure I like the flop call. Either raise or fold IMO.

Otherwise I like the way it was played.

Flop preflop!
Flop is good.
Check behind turn and call a reasonable river bet.
As played easy fold

Re: NL50: TPTK faces big raise

Firstly, fold preflop, ATo is not a hand I want to be floating behind a villain who only raises 7.5% of hands. It isn't going to stand well in any big pots at all. Unless you hit a huge flop, you are left with a weak top pair too often.

Then, having floated, you need to bet slightly more, probably just bet pot, on the flop.

On the turn you have spelt your hand out for villain and it is too obvious that the half pot bet is weak with the flush hitting on the turn and that you will fold to a check-raise. Check behind and hope to see a cheap showdown that way - why bet if that is what you want?
