Caesars has half-fixed the tournament W2G insanity

When making deals, Caesars LV is now willing to write W2G's for the amount each player actually gets. They fixed the former insanity where they were demanding that one player take a W2G for the full original first place amount, and another player take a W2G for the 2nd place amount. Joy. Deal making is now a realistic option in the Caesars poker tourneys!

Now if we could just get Harrah's to stop issuing W2G's at all for poker tourney wins, we'd be set.

there is nothing wrong with doing the W2-G's this way, there is another form you can file to adjust for the deal

That would be IRS Form 5754. It is a good idea to have this prepared if you have any backers. Complete parts I, II and III.

Are any poker rooms willing/able to issue a reciept for tournament entry amounts ?

I also play video poker and the records of my play are easily identifiable from my players cards, so deductions are easily made.

Many do by default. You'll get a receipt for buying in for a tourney at Mirage, Bellagio, Wynn, Caesars. Others, too, I'm sure. Not at Sahara. Mirage gives rebuy receipts if you ask the dealer for it. Never seen a rebuy receipt at Caesars.

Receipts aren't required to meet IRS reporting requirements by my reading. But it never hurts to have 'em.
