High Stakes Poker...Ivey Vs. Booth

For those of you that watched it last night...What does everyone think of Ivey's lay down? For those of you that didn't see the hand, it went as follows... Blind are 300/600 with 100 ante. David Williams opens for 1800 in the high jack with J9o , Booth(1 million behind) in the CO re-raises to 5800 with 4s2s, Phil Ivey(300k behind)out of the SB re-re-raises to 14,000 with KdKh. Williams mucks, Booth flat calls 8,200 more. Flop is 3d7s6d , Ivey bets 23k, Booth puts Ivey all in for 300k. Ivey mucks.

I love how you quote something you didn't say, I wasn't sure if you ment he bet 300k putting phil all-in (because he covers him) - such a big overbet... hard to call with an overpair here. In his shooes I'd probably do the same, but then again Ivey has played alot with Booth so he probably has access to alot more history then we do... but readless I guess it's a fold.

your opinion of brad booth is that he is a moron? hmm, kinda different from what i think.

anyways i thought this was an interesting hand and an extremely tough decision. personally i thought it was a spot id seriously consider calling in. unless brad has aces, which is a real possiblity, i think that ivey is ahead here. 67 suited is also a possiblity but i would have thought it unlikely in iveys shoes (alhtough given the actual action it is certainly possible.

i just dont see him playing a set like that in this situation and i also would have discounted a straight for the same reasons. this sort of thinking is obviously somewhat dangerous against world class players who are capable of making sophisticated plays like that but i still would put him on a draw more often than anything else in this spot. sometimes, especially in situations like this i wish that i didnt know one players hand as it can be very difficult to put aside what you know. i know that some poker show used to do this and it would have been interesting if they would have presented the hand without showing brads holding.
