Sorry Thayer :-(

WSOP sat, I'm like 25/42, 22 spots pay.

I just got moved to this table, been here less than an orbit and saw Thayer reraise to 5K and fold to a cold shove for 10K more from SB. That's the only info I have about how he's been playing, this is first pot I've played at this table. I didn't like his UTG raise but felt I needed to act quickly before my hesitation clued weakness, so I shoved and immediately regretted it. Thoughts?

I don't regret it here so much. Your M is 16 so you're not desperate. He folded once for less and doesn't strike me as the type to race for the rest of his chips. Of course there's not much of a read here.

I'd prefer to call and use the button.

You've probably noticed this by now, but the CL at our table was literally raising 2.2x bb every hand.
I felt like it was a good situation to pick up a bunch of chips.

I think in our hand we both played it suboptimally.

I'm guessing Thayer had KK and you cracked it?

I don't think you need to push here, I really don't see the point...

Yes I got moved away from the table and was very disappointed b/c I was looking forward to those free chips if I ever needed them, though I could very nearly fold in after winning that hand.

Unfortunately I busted 34th when I had slipped to average stack and decided I could justify shoving KK into an EP raiser (I would have folded QQ). He had AA FFS!!!

Im a big fan of raising AK pf, but the time i really slow down is against an utg raiser. If they have AA, kk, we are crushed, and they have qq or jj or 10 10 we can play our AK a bit more like a drawing hand, and get in cheap, sort of like suited connectors.

The insta shove also reeks of AK, so he could be very, very correct to call with his highish PP

Also, since you are on button, it is really unlikely that anyone is going to do anything silly after you

If you have AKo at the button why not use it? UTG should have a decent hand and I would expect him to call with JJ+ and AKs. A medium PP would probably have been a pf-push.

Your behind at this stage as I see it and since you have no real reads on UTG, I'd call...
