Has allowing anyone to post here cheapened this forum?

The concept of only David creating new threads here but allowing anyone to post was novel and interesting. Now, it seems, there is little difference between the "Special Slansky Forum" and OOT other than that David still creates a small percentage of the threads, and that he's far more likely to read the other threads here than he is in OOT.

It seemed better to me when only David could create threads. Maybe I'm in the minority here with this opinion, but if you disagree with me, please explain why, at any given time, there are far fewer people in this forum than there used to be.

Just some food for thought.

Yes there are a lot of posters who are obviously newbies to the game cheapening up the forum. the thread on your favorite hand makes me wish it was moved to \Texas Hold'em General because its too dumb.

It's actually worse than OOT. The availability of this forum for people to ask very normal poker questions that belong in their respective poker oriented forums is bad. I'm sure the guy who posted the "New Here. Questions" thread means well, but it's just noise here and would be fine in "beginners," or "small stakes", or any number of other places.

If I didn't know any better, I'd probably do the same thing. Why post a question about AKo missing the flop in a forum of nobodies when I can post in the "Sklansky" forum and find out from the guru himself.

I'd prefer to go back to the old way.

My impression is that this is sort of an experimental run while Sklansky is busy, since I guess he prefers this to no new activity. I think there is little doubt that it was better the old way, and it will probably be changed back eventually.

I feel like there is probably a better alternative for now. Maybe just allow moderators to start threads? You'd weed out some of the good posters who aren't moderators, but it might be worth it to weed out all the noise too. If someone else did have a good OP, they could always PM a moderator and ask him to start it.
