I need legit viewpoints, I could say all the stuff about addiction, luck, etc.. but I need stuff like words from Frist's mouth and so forth..

also, I haven't played on party for like 4 years, and I don't think I played that high then but I was young and dumb so I may have been..

The scary thing? People actually buy this shit. Americans scare me (and I’m American).

Online poker can’t effectively be regulated because you can never fully verify the age of any player. If we can’t prevent innocent minors from being exposed to the evils of online gambling, how can we possibly legalize it?

And the evils lurking under online poker tables are many. After all, criminals and terrorists exploit industries that the government can’t regulate. Every time Timmy in the 10th grade plays a $1 tournament, he may as well be mailing a check to Osama bin Laden.

Land-based casinos are legal because they are regulated. In land-based casinos, you can verify the age of players as well as monitor their gaming activity to make sure their entertainment doesn’t become an addictive problem. You can also make sure criminals and terrorist groups like Al Qaeda aren’t laundering money.

Online gambling should be illegal because it tears at the very fabric of American society by preying on our young people. We need to take back the United States by taking a stand against immorality. We need to ensure future generations of Americans won’t be fighting the terrorists of tomorrow because of today’s online gambling addiction.

You may also find this report to Congress interesting. It's from 2004 on legal strategies to fight online gambling.

[Edit: I don't really believe the college paper thing, but it's okay...I'm playing along.]

[Second Edit: Yes, I really did write all that crap myself.]

Thanks a lot yahboohoo.. what do you mean you don't believe the college paper thing? You think I am doing this just for fun?

fundamentals of communication class, this speech has to give three viewpoints to an issue, and then our next speech is persuasive about one of the viewpoints..

Isn't that the point of our discontent with this recent legislation - there is no rationale for making it illegal that can't be more appropriately dealt with through regulation and especially not if at the same time live poker is illegal and other forms of online gambling are to be allowed.
