Wtf, if i were a mod id give people 1 day holidays for linking to vids without making it clear you are (though i kinda guessed off the URL) and not giving any idea about what happened in it.

The video is classic image management (lacking sponsorship as he does, right?), and he holds it down alright. But, mostly, I agree with the OP, JGold comes off more like he wants to be liked and accepted then he does towards gaining the respect he says he seeks. Not for nothing, but in his shoes, who wouldn't be out on the beach in thailand lining up an international parade of escorts that would make Antonius jealous? But, I digress...

Bottom line, I just don't get all the apologizing from Jamie. For what? Being human? The kid was free-falling, like most of us would be in his shoes. Learning at the speed of light with media, friends, family, and the blown-up poker world inspecting every move, replayed on ESPN in every bar, coast-to-coast, for months on end:

"that amateur, more immature than professional, outdonks cunningham under the bright lights. he's no moneymaker, and certainly no hachem" (as has been accurately pointed out)

But, he is undoubtedly a fitting world poker champion... i mean, come on, have you seen the recent crew that sit to play this game?!? Are you part of them like I am?

Be honest, Jamie Gold is just as representative of the poker world as Bush is of America, and goddamn if we don't hate the pimply parts of our own reflection... you know what, f that. Jamie Gold for President. That's keeping it real

C'mon if u just won 12mil in the largest ever field in the main event against the best players in the world, u would think ur pretty damn good, eben if u luck boxed ur way thru it

QFT man, if people watching him on TV think that if they imitate the way he plays they can be world champions too then I hope he wins again this year

if he's moving his lips he's lying, unless he's at a poker table, then and only then is he telling the truth

looks like he finally put some of his money to good use and hired a publicist/PR guy.

It sounded pretty convincing except for when he thanked doyle for the "lesson" on high stakes poker - that part just sounded really insincere and over the top to me

He cannot ever get over his record breaking, grating personality. Unless he brings peace in the Middle East of something, I am sure I will always hate him.

There are some people you know you never will like:
Jerry Lewis, Rosie O Donnel, Dick Cheney, Jim Cary, Donald Trump, Bill O'Reilly, Geraldo, Tom DeLay, Mother Teresa, Prince Harry, all ex-child actors, and slow rollers. There are so many that I can't think of all of them. But Gold is definately in there for life.
