Re: Let \'Em Ride?

looks like the Shuffle Master game known as "Let It Ride" in B&M casinos, but the betting is played backwards (Boss Media also has this, presumably to avoid paying royalties). so mathematically the house edge should be virtually identical if playing ideal strategy.

based on the Table 1 payout schedule, you would lose about 3.5% on every bet in the long run. you will get many more losing hands over time than you can make back in good ones.

I do enjoy this game recreationally myself, but it is not +EV no matter how you try and slice it.

The game seems easy until you buy in for $100 and play through it all without even hitting one pair of tens or better. Extremely volatile game.

One possibility is that the play money game is rigged in favor of the player. I would put the probability that the real money game is -EV at somewhere in the neighborhood of 0.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999 9999999999

Actually, since the EV is fixed by the definition of the game (and card generation scheme -- be it shuffling mechanism in a B&M casino, or random number generator in an online casino), the probability of the real money game being -EV is either 0 or 1. The numbers you are (jokingly) stating are your (purported) confidences that the game is -EV.
