In the old days you wanted something with 1600x1200 but with resizable tables bigger is probably better. I just got the Samsung 204b which was one of the standards and is very nice.

Bigger is nice, but high res is good even if you're not concerned about multi-tabling. I like a high res screen, just so my zeros don't look like hexagons.
