For What Hands is this Play Reasonable?
for both me and opponent?
320 Pokerstars, opponent is MadHattter who I think is good. Ive got 3660 he's got 2345. Blinds are 50-100. He button raises to 300. I reraise in the sb to 1300. He pushes and I call. Edit to say I've been playing somewhat nitty, no cards and not many tricky moves. |
Re: What Hands Make this Play Good
Depends a lot on the player, but maybe like 77+, AJ+,KQ+ for you
88+ For him, maybe 88+,AQ+, possibly AJs I suppose if he folds too much, any pair could be good, in which case, his calling range should be more like. 55+ AQ+, AJs+ |
Re: For What Hands is this Play Reasonable?
you - 88+/AQ
him - same dunno where im coming up with these, but this is assuming he sees you as a player who would reraise a random pretty light here. |
Re: For What Hands is this Play Reasonable?
I think the point here is that the SB’s reraise to 1300 is pot-committing. Conventional wisdom holds that if SB reraises on these stack sizes, the reraise should be all-in.
So under what circumstances is it preferable for SB to reraise to 1300 or so (rather than allin)? And, how does the nonstandard-size raise affect the button’s decision? |
Re: For What Hands is this Play Reasonable?
i come over the top all in w any pair kq ,ace 9 or better

Re: For What Hands is this Play Reasonable?
I had 66 he had 88. I thought I showed a lot of strength and he would call perhaps 99 aq plus.
Then I realized if I push he will probably call with 88 for example, so if he acts differently based on raise sizes, it can be exploited. Not sure if that makes sense. Do I have any other options besides push or raise? I don't really think so. |
Re: For What Hands is this Play Reasonable?
Oops.. misread first time. You should be pretty light. Like 44/KQ/KJs/AT/A8s. He should be like 77/AJ
