10 25, playing like I missed

This game is pretty small for villain, so I half expect him to get friskier than he probably should, I have a tight image but the game just got rolling.

3k villain limps MP, 2k donkey limps behind, I make it 100$ otb with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], villian calls, donkey folds. I have 4400$.

Pot($260) Flop 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Villain checks quickly, I bet 175$ quickly, he shoots a glance to the board and calls.

(Pot 610$) Turn 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

He bets 400$ pretty quick... my initial read is that he has a pretty junky hand and wants a fold, I do my best to seem like JJ/QQ and call, hoping he'll make a big river bluff.

River is a Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

(Pot $1410) Board: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

He checks, is he giving up or is he inducing a bluff? Does he have a pair or does he have a jack, what amount is right here?

He has about 2300$ left.

If's he's giving up he won't call anything anyways, so you might as well assume he has a pretty big hand. Make it $1127.43 or so.

uhhh maybe you could make like a scared bet and hope he makes play on it.

if you had a more aggro image, then i'd push.

I'd bet about $700 here. You're giving him 3-1 to call, so it's enticing. Plus it's big enough that it doesn't look like a pure "suck" bet. If he has anything at all he'll call here. It also leaves him $1600, so if he wants to make a move and come over the top he can do so

i don't really get that...i mean if he'd call that much, wouldn't he call a pot-sized bet? may as well make an extra few hundred.

What's up with all the newbies these days. Seems like they have more poker skills than most of the senior citizens in here.

lol. I've been playing for years, plus been reading 2 + 2 for awhile now as well. I just never bothered to register for an account until just the other day

I would either bet 500 or move in. Moving in is more fun. If he were going to bluff, he probably would have done it already - unlikely he'll c/r bluff and more likely he'll make a hero call when you move in than he'll make a crying call when you bet 500.

I disagree. A smallish river bet usually represents a weak hand that's betting with no show down value or a weak bet that's trying to induce a bluff raise. Villians line sure smells like a dirty rat trying to buy it on the turn. Why not let him try it again? If you go AI, there's no money to be made, you're not playing with kids at these stakes any more TWP.

Sorry, I forgot only kids can, say, check a straight on the river to induce a bluff.
