West Virginia poker update

A second House committee passed HB 2718 Monday and the bill's chances on the House floor are very good. The full House could vote on the bill as early as Thursday. Check out the good news at: http://sundaygazettemail.com/section/News/2007021214

Oh man, my fingers are crossed!

My Sunday home game may soon be a thing of the past.

I'm pulling for this thing too, but trying not to get my hopes up. Is poker included in this "table games" bill? I can't find any information where they specify what a table game is.

Wow, I would love this. Right now I drive 3.5 hours to Niagara Falls. Chester, WV (Mountaineer) is less than 1 hour from my house.

YESSSSS!

Please, please please, 30 minute drive from PA would be a blessing.

I was telling my friend about this earlier. He said he read that the Wheeling track probably would not add table games due to the 35% rake the gov't would take.

Re: West Virginia poker update

35% tax...they're still going to operate if they're allowed. They still take in $.65 on the $1.00. Taxes are just a cost of doing business - they're still going to be making more money than they did before. Plus table games bring in a whole new breed of gamblers that don't touch slots (like myself).

Table games = +EV for Wheeling.

Right now, it looks like poker will be coming to WVA. My biggest concern is the 35% tax (NJ tax is 9%) and how it will impact the structure of the game.

Can't wait either- the sooner WVA gets table games, the sooner PA will.
